Dr. Tyson has over 20+ years experience in youth development and education.

His work in diverse communities around the globe includes providing leadership and mentoring in various school districts, summer camps, and college access programs.

He also teaches about the history of Hip-Hop culture and its role in international peacebuilding efforts at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Dr. Tyson’s experience in community work, education, and youth development includes serving as Program Director for City Year Philadelphia, College Advisor at Harlem Children’s Zone, Director of the Young Men’s Initiative at Philadelphia Futures, Program Manager at Urban Affairs Coalition, and Executive Board Member of Black Male Development Symposium.

Dr. Tyson has also been actively involved as a volunteer with the Universal Hip-Hop Museum, 100 Black Men of America Inc., and The Peace Center.
